A286 stainless steel is one of the first and most versatile alloys utilized to replace other stainless steel grades in extra strong uses.

The alloy is precipitation harden-able and has high strength at temperatures up to 704 degrees Celsius. The alloy can be solution heat-treated and aged at temperatures ranging between 732 degrees Celsius and 927 degrees Celsius.

A286 stainless steel is available in multiple forms, including round bars, flat bars, rectangular bars, plates, sheets, and wire. It is a precipitation-harden-able iron base super-alloy that can be heat treated to higher strength levels, even up to nearly twice the strength of 304 stainless steel.

The Alloy A286 Bars also have excellent corrosion resistance when exposed to high-temperature environments, making them ideal for industrial settings where they will be exposed to high temperatures and corrosive environments. A286 is also great for cryogenic temperatures or very low temperatures.

Uses of A286 Alloy Bars

The weld should, however, be concentrated on thin-walled areas when welding nickel-based metal. It is preferable to use thin-walled parts of A286 alloy in heavier components as they are heat crack-prone. Welding a286 requires an understanding of the process and the right skills and knowledge.
